Her two passions filled the entire book! The Green Teen was totally focused on educating the teens on all the environmental buzz words. Her fun writing style will grab the attention of any teen ( I know because I have two) and explain to them how they can take on such issues such as "What can I do about Global Warming, Air Pollution, Deforestation, Sweatshops and Saving the Planet".
She breaks it down in her Top 5 Ways! Each section followed the same format-How to Green something, Top 5 Ways to start, Why Bother doing it, G2G Green Tips, Planning stage with ideas and tips on how to go about it and my last two favorite steps were How to Get your Parents Involved and Surfing Sites! She also included teens who have made an impact with their projects.
She clearly pointed out that if you want to Save Your World then start with yourself, your home and your school. Once you've done that then "take it to the streets" and get your idea moving through your community!

Only thing i'm doing green is wearing green clothes. Not sure about all this "green" stuff.
Perhaps the best "green" step would have been sparing the trees killed to make this book.
Interesting comments. It sounds as if she agrees with the theory of global warming. How is that handled in the book? While I agree that we need to be good stewards of the earth upon which we live, I don't buy into that theory. As far as "green" I've become fairly consistent in using my own shopping bags, and not just at the grocery store.

Dianne she does explain Global warming in her book. She explains "that under normal conditions, the greenhouse effect keeps the planet nice and warm." and also " Human activities like manufacturing, driving, and deforestatin sends too many gases in the atmosphere, increasing the global temperatures to dangerous levels" I was well aware of the views on Global Warming. I'm not totally convinced in the Global Warming theories. She did a great job stating her case. Most everyone has heard of Global Warming. She explains it very well. If a teen had heard the term but didn't know what people meant by it they will get it explained here.
I do agree on doing things like reusing, recycling, reinventing, etc. I love her Top 5 ways she covered with each topic. For example she talked about making presents, reusing wraping paper, using natural products to dye eggs,etc.

Sounds like a good book. We have to educate our kids on recycling and reusing or they're not going to have much of a future.
I have to admot I am not currently doing much to go green right now. As you know I live near the high school and they do have a recycling bin behind the building and I am planning to take more things down there. I have told my hubby we need to stop throwing away newspapers but as of yet he has still been throwing them away.
At our house, we "reuse" a lot - not because it is necessarily a "green" thing to do, but because it saves money and makes common sense. We reuse clothes by passing them on to someone who can use them. Toys get passed on to younger siblings & resale shops. Plastic grocery bags are reused as trash bags.
My son would love this book. Is it out yet to purchase? He is very into the environment and animals.
