Along Wooded Paths Facebook Party & Review

  About the book:
All she wanted was a simple Amish life . . . But now Marianna Sommer finds herself depending on Englisch neighbors. Although proud of living apart from the world, she and her newly relocated Amish family have discovered that life in the remote mountains of Montana requires working together.

As Marianna begins helping those different from herself—and receiving their help—her heart contemplates two directions. She’s torn between the Amish man from Indiana whom she has long planned on marrying and the friendly Englischer who models a closer walk with God than she’s ever seen before.

Who should have young Marianna’s heart? What is God asking her to sacrifice? Her traditions? Her community? The answer is found along the wooded paths.(Click here to read an excerpt)

Scraps of Life Book Club review: I'm a huge fan of author Tricia Goyer and her Big Sky Series. I like her writing style and the genres which she writes. It seems that there is a huge trend for fiction books portraying the Amish and Tricia takes on this subject to produce a beautifully written story between Marianna, the Amish and the Englisch. Even though this is book 2 in the series it stands alone and you can read the books out of order.

This story is about family, love, prejudice and God. I loved how the story led me to see that sometimes we close our mind off to the outside world if it is different from the world in which we have created within our family and community. I loved that as well as the main character, Marianna needing to change and grow, so did her family and others around her. As always I love reading about the Amish, their simple life and how they work together as a community.

I love reading Christian Fiction / Christian Romance because I know that the books are morally clean. I know these type of books are ok to read in public and that my teens could pick up the book and read and that I wouldn't be embarrassed as to what they might come across in the story.

How about you?
